How To Beat These Earthquakes
Everyone in Christchurch in one way or another has added stress levels and anxiety due to the ongoing aftershocks that we are all experiencing.
There isn’t a lot that we can do about Mother Nature however there are some positive and proactive things we can do to help us cope with this experience.
Surround yourself with positive people that have a positive outlook on the situation. It’s easy to get caught up in the talk of doom and gloom, its a lot more constructive to look at how you are going to move forward from your personal situation and how you can take advantage of the boom that we will be experiencing over the next 10 plus years.
Take care of your friends and family and let them take care of you if you need it. Don’t be to proud to ask for help, everyone is affected at differing degrees, we the staff of fitness Canterbury are more than happy to talk with you and help you if we can.
Do not use alcohol as a tool to relieve stress. You need to keep your body in a healthy state so you can best cope. The best way to do this is to continue with a healthy nutrition plan with regular exercise. Exercise gets your endorpines flowing and releases nervous energy. Exercise will also help you sleep. Lack of sleep is one of the major causes of stress. Exercise can also give you a feeling of strength which is very important in dealing with the events.
Set yourself a goal, the clients i train that seem to be dealing with the aftershocks the best are the ones who have set goals to achieve which is giving them something to focus on.
Treat yourself and a friend in need to a massage or a facial or even better take a weekend away to clear your head.
Breathing execises while listening to some relaxing music.
Try to continue your normal activities for yourself and your family, keeping those routines will help you feel less anxious.
What ever you do stay positive about your and christchurchs future. We are all in this together and we will all get through this together becoming a better city and a stronger community.
