Snow is on the mountains, fire is on and just as you’re getting comfortable that voice in your head says, “you should really go to the gym”. Your first thought is probably “ugh” because you don’t have the motivation. So, how do you get back into the swing of things?
Remember, it’s natural that we’d rather hibernate in the cave of our blankets than venture out into the gym. We still need to remind ourselves that our health is vital all year round. Here are some tips to help you find your groove again.
Begin small and set yourself a goal that you know is achievable. For example, when you wake up, jump into your fitness gear. This may seem insignificant, but it is an effective step that will spark your motivation to get your butt moving. Also, if you don’t go to the gym, you will have to shamefully take off the workout clothes you didn’t work out in. You don’t want that.
Secondly, begin to shift your mindset. Press delete on the “I cant’s” and turn the volume up on the “I cans”. Start being kinder to yourself and celebrate the small achievements you make to get back into your healthy lifestyle. Whether that be drinking a glass of water, stepping outside or choosing an apple instead of a cookie. Remember, it is natural to fall off track but it’s when we make the conscious decision to pick ourselves back up again that makes all the difference.
Our health is an investment so don’t give up. Slow progress is still progress.
