Benefits of Clean Eating

Clean eating is becoming a lifestyle that people are starting to integrate into their everyday lives. The great thing about choosing a clean eating lifestyle is that it’s great for families as well. Clean eating is more than just a diet but more of a lifestyle change. It focuses on consuming food as close to it’s natural state as possible e.g. whole, natural and unprocessed food.

The great thing about clean eating is you’re able to train yourself to read what is inside your boxed foods before consuming it. Another great thing about clean eating is that you should be able to recognise all of the ingredients on the packet before consuming and be able to recognize more ingredients than not e.g. if you know what sodium acid pyrophosphate or monocalcium phosphate is than be my guest. But basically it’s best to avoid anything that has artificial sweeteners, preservatives and colours.

The three main benefits of clean eating are:

1. Improves cardiovascular health. A clean eating diet contains more servings of fresh fruit and vegetables that all contribute to maintaining better cardiovascular health. Thanks to the high fibre content in fruit and vegetables, these all contribute to reducing the risk of having a heart attack or a stroke. By cutting out processed foods and eating more healthy fats (salmon and avocado etc) you’re lowering your cholesterol levels as well as reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease.

2. Making you aware of what you’re putting inside your body. Eating clean makes you accountable for what you choose to put inside your body. Researching ingredients that you aren’t so familiar with you will make you want to never eat anything that contain these again. A clean diet is key to increasing your intake antioxidants and making for a healthier immune system.

3. Feel great on the inside. Incorporating a clean eating lifestyle will make for a happier you, not only on the inside but it will give you a great self-confidence and motivation to keep it up. Feeling sluggish and bloated after eating will be a thing of the past for you.

Make water and herbal tea your new best friend and cancel out the soft drinks and juice, you’ll be amazed at how great your body will be feeling and how great you’ll feel about yourself.Getting started with clean eating is easy and what’s great is that clean eating allows you to eat 5-6 times a day, making sure you’re portion sizes are reasonable, i.e the size of your palm to ensure that you aren’t overeating.
